Adam's rib

This month hold International Women's Day (and my pov on this is that we, women will be better off without it, but that's my middle-class priviledged westerner mind talking, and I can see the importance this can hold for underpriviledge women of any country who can't be heard otherwise). And Katherine invited us all to participate to Adam's Rib, a festival intending to celebrate women thru Indian Cinema.

I'm missing academics and so felt like following a problematic and working all month long around it, so as to reach a conclusion of some sort by the end of the month. The only problem is I had no time to devote to research prior to this month and therefore do not have much material to work with.

I'll still try to talk about goris in the indian cinema and their representation within those movies.

Goris is the term used for "white women".

During my short time watching Bollywood movies, I've come thru different representation of the white female. There's the love interest of some sort, like in Lagaan. There's also the item song backdancers, like in Double Dhamaal or Ready (to cite recent movies). And this is just the three I can cite from the top of my head. there are other ways to represent the white woman in Indian cinema and I figure, as a westerner, that this could be a good thing to talk about this month.

I'm also going to read some female orientated academic papers (there are a few, thanksfully) and watch random titles so as to focus my reviews on the female, whereas they are the heroines or not, rather than on the hero and other males.

Ce mois ci, nous allons celebrer la Journée de la Femme. A cette occasion, KAtherine, de Totally Filmi, a décid de mettre en place un festival dédiée aux femmes. Cet evenement, nommé Adam's Rib (la Cote d'Adam), se focus sur les femmes dans le cinéma indien. 

Je vais tenter de cibler ma problematique autour de la representation des femmes blanches dans le cinéma indien. En dehors de ça, je vais centrer mes reviews autour des heroines des films, plutot qu'autour du film ou des heros.
